One-on-one interview with Stu Gibbs

Watch below for an interview with Stu.

Stu and his wife Livy host most of the main meetings at Newday. They planted the Greenwich Newfrontiers church in 2008 and continue to grow this despite going to the gym 8 times a week! Hench.

Outreach ‘09 – A community impacted by Jesus

The impact you all had in the community last summer is evident! We got this letter from our good friend Maurice  who leads Aylsham Community Church in Norwich. Read it and realise the effect each of you can have on a community screaming out for Jesus.

Dear All,

Newday 2009 Last summer at Newday, a number of your young people came and served on one of our outreach projects in Aylsham, Norfolk.  As well as a Family Multi-Activity Day and a tea party for senior folks, teams of young people were involved in a town survey and delivering a large number of leaflets.  The purpose of all these projects was to launch and raise the profile of a series of outreach events at our church, under the banner of “Find God Here”, culminating in an Alpha Course which has just started this month.

‘without exception, the young people from all the various churches were outstanding and a huge credit to youth and a very great witness in the town’

Newday 2009We remain so very grateful for all the efforts of the various Newday teams that week – without exception, the young people from all the various churches were outstanding and a huge credit to youth and a very great witness in the town.  The courage and willingness of the young people with the surveys was amazing, and their attitude and manner throughout was highly commendable.  We were genuinely very impressed.

‘we have discovered a fresh energy and momentum in the church for outreach in our community’

Newday 2009 As a result of this season of outreach launched through the Newday outreach projects, we have discovered a fresh energy and momentum in the church for outreach in our community, which is excellent.  Through the various outreach events in the months since Newday we have seen 10 or so fresh commitments and re-commitments, which is excellent for our Market Town church.  The Alpha Course has started and we have a total of 20 or so recent converts and unchurched people attending, which again for us is very encouraging.

So, please could you pass our heartfelt thanks to your young people for their excellent encouragement to us last summer, for their cheerful cooperation, and for modeling a zeal for evangelism on our streets.  We have been thrilled with the outcome.

With every blessing,

Maurice Nightingale

Newday hits the road…

280460

Next Friday Newday dusts down the tour bus and hits the highways, we’re hoping the on bus jacuzzi still works (Joel spilled jelly beans in it last time we used it). Joke.

Seriously though, we’re going to Norfolk and for one night only. Book in now if you can make it.

Day 5 – In words and pictures

The penultimate day of Newday 2009 kicked of in true style with the 12-14s submerging youths in porridge! The challenge is to see who can hold their breath underneath the surface the longest, the winner manages 12 seconds.

the beggining of the evening meeting

Today, and the week besides, has been building up to this evenings meeting with Adrian Holloway, in which he presents the gospel offering a chance for people to respond. Supported by Simon Brading half way through the meeting Adrian gets up and prays for the sick to be healed by Jesus. Many put their hand up to say they have been healed and later on we hear a few of the testimonies. Before this we heard testimonies of two who were healed last year and have had their healing confirmed by doctors. One has been healed of deafness in the ear and the other of an ‘s’ shaped spine.

Towards the end of his talk Adrian, using a bridge he has constructed on stage, demonstrates the lengths to which God went to in order to bring us back into relationship with himself. Preaching from the parable of the lost son in Luke he shows the hearth of God to bring his lost sons back into his family.

When then, at the end of the night, he asks those who have never given their lives to Jesus to respond by making their way to the front many did so. The rest of those in the hall join with the new believers in singing praises to God and those who responded do so for the first time truly realising the significance of what they are singing.

We thank God for a fantastic day and look forward to another on the final day tomorrow.
