Anna and I are taking some time out this summer.
It’s been a demanding two years and we’re in a situation which could develop into serious exhaustion. So I felt we needed to take a long break this summer, away from responsibility and serving.
The elders at CCK have thoroughly endorsed this decision and are keen for us to have a good break and time away. So, from this last weekend, I’m laying down all my responsibilities at CCK for the next 10 weeks, and my involvement at Together On A Mission, Mobilise and Newday.
Through some amazing God circumstances, we’re actually flying out of the UK to spend our time in a fantastic city with a superb Newfrontiers church. And I will be disappearing from the online world of twitter, Facebook, blogging and emails… !
It’s been a fast paced three weeks since these decisions were made, with elder’s involvement. There are no sin issues or wrongdoing. I haven’t been asked to step down or been disqualified and this is not a church discipline situation. It was my initiation and it has received the elders endorsement.
It’s going to be strange not being involved at any of the conferences. However, we believe this is a priority.

Watch below for an interview with Stu.
Stu and his wife Livy host most of the main meetings at Newday. They planted the Greenwich Newfrontiers church in 2008 and continue to grow this despite going to the gym 8 times a week! Hench.

The impact you all had in the community last summer is evident! We got this letter from our good friend Maurice who leads Aylsham Community Church in Norwich. Read it and realise the effect each of you can have on a community screaming out for Jesus.
Dear All,
Last summer at Newday, a number of your young people came and served on one of our outreach projects in Aylsham, Norfolk. As well as a Family Multi-Activity Day and a tea party for senior folks, teams of young people were involved in a town survey and delivering a large number of leaflets. The purpose of all these projects was to launch and raise the profile of a series of outreach events at our church, under the banner of “Find God Here”, culminating in an Alpha Course which has just started this month.
‘without exception, the young people from all the various churches were outstanding and a huge credit to youth and a very great witness in the town’
We remain so very grateful for all the efforts of the various Newday teams that week – without exception, the young people from all the various churches were outstanding and a huge credit to youth and a very great witness in the town. The courage and willingness of the young people with the surveys was amazing, and their attitude and manner throughout was highly commendable. We were genuinely very impressed.
‘we have discovered a fresh energy and momentum in the church for outreach in our community’
As a result of this season of outreach launched through the Newday outreach projects, we have discovered a fresh energy and momentum in the church for outreach in our community, which is excellent. Through the various outreach events in the months since Newday we have seen 10 or so fresh commitments and re-commitments, which is excellent for our Market Town church. The Alpha Course has started and we have a total of 20 or so recent converts and unchurched people attending, which again for us is very encouraging.
So, please could you pass our heartfelt thanks to your young people for their excellent encouragement to us last summer, for their cheerful cooperation, and for modeling a zeal for evangelism on our streets. We have been thrilled with the outcome.
With every blessing,
Maurice Nightingale
